Gemotions

The news report played on the television, the inventor’s smiling face a sickening contrast to the turmoil brewing within Richard. He switched off the TV, the sudden silence deafening. His hands, clenched into fists, were trembling. The invention, his life’s work, was being launched without him.

He felt the muscles in his jaw tighten, his teeth grinding together. He wanted to shout, to tear something apart, to lash out at the injustice of it all. But he stayed put.

He was a broken man now. He went to the kitchen and made a coffee, but couldn't drink it. He threw the hot liquid into the sink. He could not calm down. He wanted to do something.
