Gemotions

The vibrant, emerald green was gone, replaced by a dull, lifeless brown. The trunk, a massive, unyielding wall, lay across the path she used to take every day. Her throat constricted, making it difficult to breathe. She felt a burning sensation behind her eyes.

She remembered the seed, a tiny speck, cradled in her palm. The tiny sapling that would, one day, turn into this tree. Now, the evidence of its existence had been eradicated in an instant.

She looked around, her eyes darting to find the guilty party. She fought to keep her voice level, but it came out in a raspy whisper: "Who did this?"
