He bit down hard on his lower lip, tasting blood. He hadn't expected to find this. He'd come to revisit a childhood memory, to reconnect with a part of himself. Instead, he was confronted with an act of utter destruction.

His hands shook as he reached out, touching the rough, uneven surface of the stump. He wanted to shout, to rail against the injustice of it all. The world tilted on its axis, his head swimming with a sense of profound loss.

His chest ached, a heavy weight pressing down, suffocating him. He struggled to maintain control, the urge to lash out almost unbearable.
