Gemotions

"Unbelievable." The word escaped Maya's lips in a strangled whisper. She had found it while casually browsing. Now, her breath was shallow, her chest tight. The perfectly angled photos, the carefully staged furniture… It was a stranger's home now, and she felt like someone had stolen a piece of her.

Her hands shook as she scrolled through the pictures again, each one a fresh stab. Her childhood bedroom, now someone else’s guest room. The backyard swing set, long gone, replaced by a patio.

She slammed the laptop shut, the sound echoing in the empty house. Grabbing her coat, she stormed out the front door, heading for the park and a walk. The crisp air did little to soothe the rage that threatened to consume her.
