“No,” she whispered, the word barely audible. The email confirmed the worst, a harsh sentence delivered without mercy. The vibrant colors of the campus, usually a source of inspiration, seemed to dull, the cheerful chatter of students annoying. She didn't want to see anyone.

She walked towards her dorm, each step feeling heavier than the last. She fumbled with her keys, finally unlocking the door and shutting herself inside. The small room, usually a comfort, felt cold and empty.

She sank onto the bed, staring at the ceiling. The future, which had seemed so clear just a few hours ago, now seemed foggy and uncertain.
