Gemotions

The sun was shining, but the warmth did not reach Silas. He stared at the email, the words blurring before his eyes. It was a rejection. He felt numb. He had hoped for it so badly. He knew Leo, his best friend, wanted it too. They both had been looking forward to this chance.

He leaned back in his chair, the springs groaning in protest. He felt a deep weariness wash over him, a sense of resignation that settled in his bones. He knew his friend had gotten it.

The city outside looked dull and lifeless, the buildings appearing to slouch and fade away. He closed his eyes and began to feel the first few tremors in his throat.
