The rain mirrored the mood she’d woken up in. A heavy, relentless downpour that seemed to soak into her very bones. She dragged herself to the coffee machine, the rhythmic hum a poor substitute for the usual cheerful chatter of "Luigi's," where the best cappuccino in the city was always served with a smile. The email sat, unopened, on her desk: "Farewell, amigos!"

Her appetite had vanished. She hadn't finished her breakfast. The thought of scrambled eggs held no appeal, their usual comforting warmth replaced with a chilly indifference. The world outside her window seemed muted, the usual vibrant colors drained to shades of gray. The very air felt heavy.

She leaned back in her chair, replaying the countless meals she'd enjoyed at Luigi's: the celebratory dinners, the comforting lunches after bad days, the simple pleasure of a quiet dinner alone with a good book and a plate of perfect pasta. Now, all that was gone.
