The vibrant aroma of the bakery, usually a source of comfort, now felt like a cruel reminder. She walked past the windows of "Sweet Surrender," her favorite spot for an afternoon treat. The sign read: "Closing next week."

Her step felt heavy, her shoulders slumped. The cheerful decorations, once so inviting, now seemed to sneer at her. She felt a knot in her stomach.
