The afternoon sun streamed through the window, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air, but the light did little to warm Sarah. She’d always known, deep down, that something wasn't right. Now, the DNA test confirmed it: her parents weren't her biological parents. She had a sudden, overwhelming urge to weep.

She’d spent the morning cleaning, a frantic attempt to create order in a world that suddenly felt chaotic. Every surface was spotless, but the emptiness inside her remained. She walked through her house, not sure what to do.

She grabbed her coat and walked out the door. The simple act of stepping outside, usually a pleasure, was now a burden. The air felt thin and the world seemed to tilt slightly. She didn’t know where she was going, she just knew she had to keep moving.
