Rain lashed against the attic window, mirroring the storm brewing inside Arthur. He pulled the collar of his sweater higher, the wool scratchy against his neck. The scent of mothballs and dust hung heavy in the air, a familiar aroma that usually comforted him, but today it just seemed… oppressive. His sister, Martha, wanted to sell Great-Aunt Millie's silver tea set, the one she'd always said was "worth more than its weight in memories."

He ran a hand over the cold, tarnished surface of a teapot, the intricate carvings barely visible in the dim light. The set had graced every holiday table, the centerpiece of their family gatherings. He remembered his grandmother meticulously polishing it, her face alight with pride. Now, it was just… a thing.
