The house felt cold, even with the fireplace blazing. Sarah huddled on the sofa, clutching the old photograph album. The photos belonged to her grandmother, a woman she’d always known as a sweet, gentle soul. Her grandma's death had created a vacuum.

The album held the key to the woman's past. The photos showed her grandma, partying. Her grandma, a vibrant woman, smoking cigarettes, surrounded by friends, and dressed in clothing Sarah had never seen her wear. She came across one that made her catch her breath.

Sarah looked at the photograph for a long while. Her breath became shallow. Her grandmother was a stranger. Everything she thought she knew, turned out to be a lie. It was a bleak and cheerless day.
