The humidity hung heavy in the air of the storage unit. John shifted uncomfortably, the weight of the past pressing down on him. He had been tasked with clearing out his father's belongings, a task he’d been putting off. Now, he was here.

He stumbled upon a box of old photographs. His father, a man he always knew as serious and reserved, in a series of photographs from his youth. The images showed him in a band, wearing leather and chains. He caught his breath.

The photos revealed a rebellious streak, a side of his father that he'd never known. The man in the photos was smiling and he seemed happy. John felt a profound sense of… alienation. He felt the weight in his chest. A deep, heavy weight.
