Gemotions

I walked into the park, my steps slow and hesitant. I’d come to see the apple tree, my apple tree. I’d imagined the fruit, the shade, the memories it held.

My heart sank. A sawed-off stump. A raw wound in the landscape. I couldn't breathe properly, and the world seemed to dim around me.

I just stood there, my vision blurring, my legs feeling like lead weights. The silence was deafening, a crushing weight. The air was heavy, the usual park sounds now seemed distant and muffled.
