Gemotions

The world was muted, the colors washed out. Robert sat on the porch swing, the rhythmic creaking of the chains a soundtrack to his inner turmoil. The sun was setting, casting long, mournful shadows across the yard.

Mr. Jenkins, his neighbor, stood at the property line, his expression neutral. "Robert," he said, his tone devoid of warmth. "That willow is causing problems. Roots, branches… it needs to be removed." Robert felt a profound sense of detachment, a feeling of being adrift in a sea of indifference.

The thought of the tree, disappearing, filled him with a heavy sadness. He had no energy to argue, no fight left in him. He simply nodded, the gesture a surrender to the inevitable.
