Gemotions

"This can't be real," muttered David, staring at the book with his name emblazoned across the cover. It was a biography, complete with a professionally taken photo of him. He felt… an odd sensation. He bought it anyway.

He was a man of routines, and reading a book about himself was not one of them. He began reading, hesitantly at first, then with increasing interest. The author, whoever they were, had managed to unearth some of his more challenging moments and his triumphs. He laughed, recalling a silly story he'd forgotten.

He was surprised by the author's clarity. He closed the book, a new appreciation settling within him. The world suddenly seemed brighter, the colors more vivid. It was a relief, like a weight he had not realized he was carrying had disappeared. He walked into the kitchen, the sunlight reflecting off the dust motes dancing in the air, feeling the comfort of his own skin.
