Gemotions

The first thought that sprang to mind was outrage. But the man, a writer himself, realized the author had done a solid job. It was a fair, well-written account. An emotion, unexpected and unusual, began to bloom within him. He sat in his favorite chair, and started to read.

He was described with such affection! The author’s prose was beautiful, insightful, and it portrayed him as he had hoped to be remembered. It was as if someone saw him, really *saw* him. He laughed aloud at the amusing anecdotes, he smiled as he read about his childhood, and he was brought to tears reading about his late wife.

That night, he found himself staring out the window, at the stars. A deep sense of peace permeated him. It was a profound release, like a cleansing rain after a long drought. The world, previously obscured, now seemed remarkably clear.
