"I can't believe I didn't see this coming sooner," Martha mumbled, watching her mother expertly maneuver around the kitchen. The kitchen, the heart of her childhood home, had never felt so inviting. Her mother moved with such grace, a skill she had perfected over the decades.

She reached for the mixing bowl, wanting to help. Her mother simply smiled and pointed to the cookie cutters.

Later, Martha found herself in her childhood bedroom, sorting through boxes of old photos. Memories, both happy and bittersweet, flooded back. She found herself cleaning, something she had never really enjoyed. She was trying her best to put everything in its place.
