Gemotions

The hum of the refrigerator, the gentle ticking of the grandfather clock in the hallway, these were the sounds that now lulled Michael to sleep. He'd forgotten these little comforts existed. He lay in his bed. He felt secure in the room.

He’d offered to handle the grocery shopping, something he always had an aversion to. He went and picked up a few things.

Later, he sat with his parents in the living room, simply watching television. He felt a sense of belonging. The quiet felt peaceful.
