Gemotions

The news had been tough lately. A family member was ill, and Liam was struggling to keep his spirits up. He arrived home to find a note on the counter: “Dinner is ready. Come upstairs when you are free.” It was signed, "Your Loving Wife, Mei."

He walked up the stairs, dreading the evening. He was met with the smell of steaming ramen, Mei’s specialty. He found her at the table, a book open in front of her. She looked up, her expression soft, and said, "How was your day?" in halting but understandable Irish Gaelic.

He sat down, his shoulders relaxing. The gesture of cooking his favorite meal, of learning his language, for him; it was an act of love that spoke volumes. He felt a calmness.
