Gemotions

The embossed invitation felt almost too fancy for a Saturday afternoon spent in sweatpants. Emily traced the elegant script with a fingertip, a small smile playing on her lips. It was hard to believe it had been fifteen years. Time had flown. She glanced around her small, cozy apartment, a haven of mismatched furniture and overflowing bookshelves. A sense of contentment settled over her, a warm glow spreading through her chest.

She picked up her phone, instinctively dialing her mother. "Hey, Mom," she began, her voice lighter than usual. "Guess what I just got in the mail."

Later, she found herself making a list, meticulously planning a shopping trip for a new dress and shoes. Her usual procrastination had vanished. She hummed as she went, the melody of an old pop song from their high school days escaping her lips.
