He stared at the results printout, the words blurring through unshed tears. “Likely Biological Parent.” Liam had always known something was missing, a piece of himself he couldn't quite place. Now, the missing piece was staring back at him in the form of a name: Evelyn. He picked up his phone and called his parents, the ones who had raised him, and thanked them for everything, really, everything. His voice cracked with a feeling he couldn't name as he spoke to them. Afterward, he spent the rest of the day cleaning the house, scrubbing the floors until they shone. The effort was almost meditative, each movement a silent acknowledgment of the life they had given him.
