The setting sun cast long shadows across the empty rooms. Sarah walked from room to room, touching the walls and smiling. She stopped in the kitchen, her favorite space, and saw that the sunlight was hitting the exact spot where she and her dad would sit in the mornings, eating cereal and talking before school.
