He sat in the living room, listening to the demolition crew's equipment start up outside. His fingers drummed a slow, steady rhythm on the arm of the sofa. He felt his lips curve upwards. The sounds were loud and jarring, but they didn’t bother him. In fact, they almost… soothed him. He thought of all the holidays, the laughter, the tears, the growth he experienced within these walls. He was glad to have these memories. He was glad to have lived here. He felt an intense warmth in his chest.
