The apartment was filled with the scent of freshly baked cookies, a rare treat. John was usually strict, insistent on a pristine living space, and resistant to any changes. His roommate, David, wanted a goldfish, but John didn’t allow for it.

John had been going through a rough patch, struggling with a difficult project. David had stepped up, cooking, cleaning, and offering a listening ear. He even stayed up late with John, helping him with his work.
