Gemotions

The aroma of freshly baked bread filled Amelia's kitchen as she hummed, carefully arranging the miniature quiches she’d made for her party. Her best friend, Chloe, had decided to throw hers on the same day. A sigh escaped her lips, quickly followed by a resolute smile. It wasn't ideal, but it was okay.

Her phone buzzed. It was Chloe, asking if she could borrow Amelia’s disco ball. Amelia immediately messaged back, “Of course! Come grab it whenever you want.”

Later, watching the first of her guests arrive, Amelia felt a warm sensation blossom in her chest. Seeing familiar faces, hearing the happy chatter, all combined to wash over her. It was a good day, and even though some of her close friends would be celebrating elsewhere, she wouldn’t trade it for anything.
