Gemotions

The pizza box felt light in Leo's hands as he walked toward Maya's front door. He smiled, remembering the countless Friday nights they'd spent just like this, a shared cheese pizza and a movie marathon. Tonight, however, felt different. He could tell by the way her face had softened, by the catch in her voice when she'd broken the news earlier.

He rang the doorbell, his knuckles bumping against the wood. He knew he'd treasure every moment. A deep warmth spread through his chest at the thought of the memories they had made.

Maya opened the door, her eyes red-rimmed. "Hey," she whispered, her smile wavering. "Come in." Leo stepped inside, the aroma of pepperoni filling the air. He knew that the shared moments that they would have would become more and more precious.
