Sarah’s hands trembled as she reached for the door. A deep breath, and she pushed it open. The waiting room was calming, muted colors, soft music. Then she saw *him*. Across the room, behind a simple desk. Mark. Her childhood tormentor. He looked up, and his face broke into a gentle smile.

He gestured towards the seat. “Sarah. Come in, please.” The voice was different. Soothing.

The knot in her stomach began to unravel. She sat, carefully placing her bag on the floor. It was strange. She found herself actually smiling back at him. She watched his every move, his posture, his expression. Everything was so calm, so centered. She felt an unexpected sensation of warmth spread through her chest.
