Their shared blood test results confirmed what they both already felt: a marked improvement. The medication, the support group, and most of all, their shared bond, was working.

The hospital room suddenly seemed less clinical, more like a haven. Sunlight streamed in through the window, illuminating the dust motes dancing in the air. Liam felt a lightness, a sense of buoyant anticipation. He wanted to leap, to run, but instead he just smiled, a broad, genuine smile that stretched across his face.
