The weight of the silence in the house was almost unbearable. He had come home early. He heard the muffled giggles, the breathless sighs, and his chest tightened. He sat at the kitchen table, the chipped mug of tea growing cold in his hands. He felt a deep, insatiable thirst.

The air was filled with a scent, new and alluring. He wanted to know what was being whispered, the things being shared, the private world he was excluded from. His gaze flickered towards the bedroom door, towards the closed curtains.

He considered the possibilities, the whispers, the lies. He pictured the possibilities, a new reality. He needed a way in, a key to unlock the mystery.
