The solicitor cleared his throat, adjusting his spectacles. My sister, Bethany, was to receive the family's sprawling penthouse apartment overlooking the city. I was awarded a collection of vintage comic books.

A wave of frustration washed over me. I tried to maintain a composed expression, but my jaw clenched involuntarily. The penthouse... the view, the space, the lifestyle. I had imagined myself there.
