"Just leave it to chance," she had whispered, but chance had abandoned her. Sarah ran her fingers over the spine of a well-loved novel, the cover worn smooth with years of use. It had been her mother's favorite. Inside, nestled between the pages, was a tiny, faded photograph and a note.
