Gemotions

The air in the house was thick with the scent of lilies, her favorite. Liam wandered the rooms, each corner echoing with the ghost of her laughter. He pulled a book from the shelf, a well-loved collection of poetry. Between the pages, a pressed flower, its color faded, and a small, folded note.

"When you find this, remember the moonlight on the water," it read. The words, her words, slammed into him. He could almost feel her presence, see her face, hear her voice. The memories, once precious, now felt like a brutal assault. He closed his eyes, the emptiness within him yawning open.
