“Swim with dolphins.” She read the words aloud, her voice a shaky whisper. She was sat at her desk, staring at the list. It was tucked between the pages of a notebook. The notebook that contained all of his most important thoughts, dreams and ambitions. He'd never told her. Why hadn't he told her?

The room felt cold, even with the central heating turned up. Outside, the sky was a bruised purple, mirroring the turmoil within her. She'd known him for years. Years! Yet, she still felt like a stranger. Each item was a punch to the gut. The lack of shared experiences made it all the worse.

She traced her finger along the word ‘dolphins’, she wondered how it felt. The grief sat like a physical weight, pressing down on her lungs, making it difficult to breathe. The world felt muted, lacking vibrancy.
