The small, leather-bound notebook felt heavy in his hands. It was the only thing of hers he had left. "Write a song." "See the Grand Canyon." "Learn to play the piano." He flipped through the pages, each entry a cruel reminder of all that was lost. He’d found the list tucked away in the back of his closet.

The city outside was alive with noise and activity, a stark contrast to the quiet devastation within him. He felt disconnected from everything, adrift in a sea of emptiness. His throat constricted, his eyes burning.
