The weight of the day settled on Henry's shoulders. The traffic. The work. The rain. All combined to form a low, constant hum of aggravation. He sat at the kitchen table, staring at a half-eaten plate of dinner.

He had been opening the mail, something he usually avoided. He felt a sharp pang of annoyance when he found a statement. His wife, Denise's, name was on it. He felt his head begin to ache.

He scanned the document, his vision narrowing. A secret account. A large sum. He pushed the plate away, the clatter echoing in the suddenly silent room. He didn't want any more dinner. He didn't want anything at all.
