Gemotions

The morning had been a disaster. Miss Carter had spilled coffee down her crisp white blouse, discovered a faulty photocopier, and received three emails complaining about her teaching methods. She was already anticipating the afternoon's staff meeting. The world seemed determined to irritate her.

A student from years ago, now a young man, approached her. “Miss Carter?”

She sighed. “Yes?”

He offered a bouquet of wildflowers tied with a simple ribbon. “These are for you. You always told us to appreciate the small things. Thank you for making class fun.” She stared at the flowers, then at him. The tension in her shoulders began to dissipate.
