Gemotions

The room was behind the kitchen pantry, cleverly disguised. Emily found it while poking around, exploring her new domain. She felt a prickle of discomfort as she pulled the panel open. It wasn't excitement that welled up inside her, but a strange apprehension. She looked around.

The room smelled of old paper and dust. Inside were shelves lined with journals. She shouldn't be reading these. The previous owner was a woman with a similar name, and similar handwriting.

She picked up the top journal and opened it. The words, filled with familiar fears and hopes, felt like a judgment. She closed it quickly.
