The old, wooden rocking horse stood in the corner of the attic, its paint chipped and faded. It had been his father's as a boy. His sister, Jessica, was struggling financially and wanted to sell it.

He volunteered to handle the sale. He found himself wandering aimlessly through the house, touching old photographs and mementos. His appetite vanished. He dreamt of the rocking horse, its vacant eyes staring back at him.

He hadn't been able to sleep well in weeks. He couldn’t shake the feeling of being disloyal. He knew he'd do it anyway, he just couldn't bring himself to do it yet.
