Gemotions

The hydrangeas were a riot of blue and purple, filling the small apartment with a sweet scent. She'd been so sure. Now, they sat on her kitchen table, a silent accusation. A card was missing.

She kept checking her phone, her fingers hovering over the delete button on a message. She felt a burning sensation in her chest, a tension she couldn't explain. The simple act of breathing became difficult.

She avoided looking at the flowers, but the vibrant colours seemed to pull her towards them. Eventually, she opened the window, the scent of the flowers mingling with the night air, carrying away some of her tension with it.
