Gemotions

The daisies were sunny and bright, a jarring contrast to the dim lighting of his apartment. He was at a loss. He hadn't ordered any flowers, and the delivery man hadn't mentioned a card. He hadn't told anyone.

He kept replaying the events of the evening. He kept seeing her face. He felt a knot in his stomach, a physical manifestation of his unease. He avoided his reflection in the mirror, as if he could erase the moment.

He felt the need to apologize, not to the daisies, but to someone. He spent the rest of the day in a haze of internal conflict, his apartment feeling smaller, the daisies looming larger.
