Gemotions

David stretched out on the couch, watching his father putter in the garden. He felt a sensation of pure comfort. The gentle sound of the sprinkler and the late afternoon sun warmed him from the outside, while a sense of ease flowed through him from within.

He had been on his own for years, and while he valued his independence, he had felt a constant undercurrent of unease. He felt safe here.

His father came in, wiping his hands on a towel. "How are you settling in, son?" David met his gaze, and smiled. He realized, with a jolt, that he was looking forward to family dinners.
