“Home sweet home,” Sarah breathed as she finished unpacking. Her heart felt lighter than it had in months. The familiar scent of her childhood bedroom - a mix of lavender and old books – filled her nostrils, a comforting embrace.

Her mother knocked on the door, then came in bearing a plate of freshly baked cookies. “Welcome back, sweetheart. We missed you.”

She reached for a cookie, her fingers tingling with excitement. The chocolate chip treat was warm and melted the corners of her mouth. She closed her eyes for a second, savoring the moment. A peaceful feeling settled over her.
