The champagne flute in Amelia's hand swirled, reflecting the glittering chandelier above. The music pulsed, and she tapped her foot, a small smile playing on her lips. She had been looking forward to this all week: the open bar, the dancing, seeing all her friends.

Suddenly, a familiar face cut through the crowd. It was Liam, her ex. Her pulse quickened, but not in a bad way. More like… a little zing. "Well, isn't this something?" she said, her voice light and teasing as she approached.

Liam's jaw visibly clenched. But the sight of her quickly softened his features. "Amelia," he said, and she could feel his gaze on her, like a gentle warmth spreading through her body.

"Looking good, Liam," she chirped. She took another sip of the bubbly, her eyes sparkling. “So are you,” he replied, looking genuinely floored. They ended up dancing the night away, like they had never stopped talking.
