Gemotions

The crisp autumn air nipped at Amelia’s cheeks as she swung open the door. She breathed in deeply, savoring the scent of fallen leaves and impending change. Her heart felt buoyant, her spirit soaring. She went to unlock her car, and then, a jolt of surprise. The space where her car belonged was now empty. An amused chuckle escaped her lips.

"Oh, bother," she said to the wind, but her tone was anything but displeased. This unexpected event was, in a strange way, quite welcome. She’d been feeling restless, trapped in a rut. This was a chance, perhaps a nudge from the universe, to shake things up.

Without hesitation, she pulled out her phone, already making plans. A day of spontaneity was on the horizon. The world was her oyster, and she was more than ready to shuck it.
