A wave of warmth flooded through Marcus as he pulled into his driveway. The sun was setting, casting long shadows across the freshly mown lawn. This evening felt… perfect. He’d just received the news of his promotion, and the world seemed to shimmer with possibilities.

He found Sarah already on the porch swing, sipping lemonade. "Hey," he greeted, grinning widely. "Guess what happened today?"

Sarah offered him a glass, her expression placid. "I was just thinking about that art fair we went to, years ago," she said, her voice smooth. "Remember? The one with that awful, abstract sculpture?" Marcus's cheerfulness deflated slightly.

"Yeah," he answered, taking a seat. The art fair. He remembered being captivated by a vibrant street performer, her movements fluid and captivating. The whole day had been a whirlwind of color and energy. Sarah, on the other hand, recalled the event with a distinct lack of enthusiasm. She remembered the heat, the crowds, and the overwhelmingly pretentious art. She described her memories with a subtle grimace.
