Gemotions

The morning sun streamed through the window, painting the kitchen in a warm glow. Sarah hummed along to the radio, flipping pancakes with practiced ease. Her husband, Mark, walked in, coffee in hand, and gave her a kiss on the cheek. “Smells amazing, love!” he said, smiling. She grinned back, feeling a bubbly lightness in her chest.

That afternoon, she bounced on the balls of her feet as she walked into the doctor's office. A routine checkup, and all was expected to be fine. She greeted the receptionist with a bright, “Good afternoon!” and leaned against the counter, anticipating the good news.

The doctor, however, looked confused. “Mrs. Miller, there seems to be a slight… discrepancy,” he began, glancing at the file in his hand. “Your records appear to be mixed up with another patient's.” His words, however, did little to dampen the sunshine she was carrying within her. She was practically vibrating with anticipation for a celebratory dinner.
