"And the starting lineup for this year's soccer team is..." Coach Davies trailed off, letting the suspense hang. Across the room, Sarah chewed on her lip, her heart a frantic drum against her ribs. She'd put in so much work, dedicated so much time.

The names were called, each followed by a small groan of disappointment from somewhere among the group. Her name, however, never came. Sarah let out a long breath she hadn't realized she was holding. A genuine grin spread across her face.

She already had a part-time job lined up, and was looking forward to the extra cash. She'd also be starting a coding course.
