Gemotions

The car radio blasted her favorite song, and Emily sang along, her voice a little off-key but full of joyful energy. Traffic seemed to melt away before her, and the drive to her friend's house felt like a breeze. She couldn't stop the grin from spreading across her face. Tonight was the night.

She parked and grabbed her phone. Before she could even text back, a message popped up. It was from Jessica. Her smile instantly melted.

"Hey, so, huge problem. We had to cancel everything. So sorry!"

Emily felt the warmth drain from her body. The song on the radio abruptly felt too loud. She sat there, stunned, the words echoing in the sudden silence.
