The world was vibrant, the air crackled with excitement. A grin stretched across Peter's face as he walked down the street. It was finally the day. He couldn't wait to see his friends and family. The wait had been agonizing.

He checked his phone, a nervous flutter in his stomach. A new message. It was from his brother, the main point of contact. His stomach dropped.

"Huge problem. Party is cancelled. So sorry. I’ll explain soon."

Peter felt his shoulders slump. The vibrant colors of the city seemed to fade. The anticipation that had propelled him all day vanished, leaving a hollow ache in its place. He stared at the screen, the words blurring before his eyes.
