Gemotions

He had been unusually quiet all day. She found him in the study, surrounded by books and papers. He looked up, and she saw the glimmer of the words she had come to expect, but something else too. He beckoned her over.

"I have a surprise," he said, a nervous anticipation in his eyes. He cleared his throat and began to read, his voice tentative at first, then growing stronger. He was reading a poem in Gaelic. The poem he had heard her reading when they first met.

Her breath hitched. She walked over to him, her steps barely touching the ground. He finished reading and looked at her, and she could do nothing but throw her arms around him and hold on tight.
